What if your credit score isn't perfect?

You may still have options. Different loan programs have different credit requirements, and a lender can tell you where you stand and what could improve it. Steps that often help include paying bills on time, paying down card balances, and checking your credit reports for errors before you apply. A lower score can mean a higher rate or a larger down payment, and I can't promise approval. I've helped dozens of buyers secure loans after correcting credit problems or saving more for a down payment. Some of the most rewarding purchases are for people who started out stuck in the rent race and became homeowners. Confirm the current minimum scores for each program with your lender.
