What if the appraisal comes in lower than your offer?

You have options. Your lender may allow a request for reconsideration with additional comparable sales. You can ask the seller to lower the price, split the difference, bring extra cash yourself, or end the contract if your financing terms allow it. I cover low appraisals in both buyer and seller consultations. Negotiation is the key, and a good working relationship with everyone involved is the foundation of the solution. If you can't budge on the price as the buyer, setting that expectation with the other side early can help if it comes up. I can't promise a result.
